چکیده
Abstract The wrist and hand have complex anatomy with small bones supporting soft tissue structures, which limits the diagnostic yield for radiologic assessment. Knowledge of different clinical entities is key to diagnosis. Some essential anatomic topics in interpretation include knowledge topographic tendon hand, intrinsic extrinsic carpal ligaments, thumb carpometacarpal triangular fibrocartilage , extensor mechanism, flexor tendons pulleys. In this chapter, common traumatic injuries affecting are reviewed.

Hand and Wrist Pain
The complex anatomy of the hand and wrist involves many structures interacting in close proximity to one another. Several different diagnoses can manifest with similar symptom patterns despite varying pathologies. A precise knowledge of the anatomy of the hand and wrist often eliminates several diagnostic considerations on the basis of the physical examination alone. The history of the illness ...
متن کاملHand and Wrist
Two carpal rows with eight carpal bones form the wrist. From radial to ulnar, the proximal carpal row is formed by scaphoid, lunate, triquetrum, and pisiform, and the distal carpal row by trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, and hamate (Fig. 5.1). Stability is maintained by extrinsic (radiocarpal and ulnocarpal) and intrinsic (intercarpal) ligaments. Palmar and dorsal ligaments are differentiated an...
متن کاملPediatric hand and wrist injuries.
In the last 40 years, childhood hand and wrist injuries have become progressively more common as children have become heavier and more active in high impact sports. The majority of children with such injuries do well, but treatment is not always straightforward. Distal radius fractures, scaphoid fractures, metacarpal and phalangeal fractures, nailbed injuries, and amputations are among the pedi...
متن کامل89 - Hand and Wrist Injuries
When assessing hand injuries, the history should focus on the mechanism of the injury, hand position at the time of the insult, perceived resultant functional impairment, and the time elapsed since the injury. Some mechanisms yield classic injury patterns, such as the jersey finger and mallet finger. Other injury patterns are known for their poor outcomes, such as fight bites or high-pressure i...
متن کاملA wrist-powered hand prosthesis.
This paper describes a prosthesis for patients who have had a partial amputation of the hand, or who have congenital absence of all or part of the hand. The prosthesis incorporates a new concept whereby the grip is operated by flexion and extension of the wrist. A covering for the prosthesis has been developed using a silicone polymer which produces a lifelike flexible glove. Thirteen patients ...
